In my study of God's Word, I study the character of Abraham, David, Daniel, Paul and so on..., not so much to know them, but to know their God. Beacause of this, I pray that my light so shine before you, that you may see my good works, and glorify my Father which is in heaven. |

While growing up, I remember sitting on the floor, at the foot of my mother's bed, listening to her read poetry aloud. She read with such feeling that encouraged anyone listening to want to understand. My mother also lived her life with such feeling. While many Christians during that time were going to work with their bible's, yet keeping to themselves, she interacted with those whom she came in contact with. Whenever I would visit her on her job, it seemed like everyone loved her, and this was across racial and religious lines. I've never seen her force Christ on anyone, yet everyone was able to acknowledge the Christ in her. She had a love for the Mother's of the church, for when she was young, they groomed her, and when she got older, she looked after them. Just reading the bible was never enough for her, she would fill her bed, or kitchen table with study materials, preparing for such classes as Sunday school, in which she taught the children. Some of those same ones she still teaches, but now as adults. She not only invited others to her church, but she also visited theirs. Yes, I experienced WITNESSING in it's purest form... LOVE. |
| I was born in New Orleans, La., yet since the age of two, I grew up in Chicago, Il. I was raised around the Church of God In Christ (COGIC), but it was in the year 1982, while in the military, that I was at the point in my life where I needed more than I myself could muster. A former squad member, Savell Quinn shared and led me to Christ. I believe that out of respect for the fact that I had once been his squad leader, he took me to the church to talk to the pastor. However, the angels were already rejoicing. Since such time, I have lived in various places due to professional and personal opportunities; I've been blessed to have encountered the blessings from many of God's vessels. However, these two have touched my life like no others. Savell, a normal, yet "one of a kind", type guy, worked the audio for the church. He loves God, his family, his church, and to this day he'll give you the shirt off of his back. My pastor, the late Elder James M. Tolbert was a young man with great vision. He began in the COGIC until God called him to become Interdenominational. He continued to fellowship with them and others, sharing his gift of faith, wisdom, and orgaizational skills, along with his powerful preaching and teaching. It was a norm for the church, "New Harvest Outreach", to be conducting street services, doing door to door witnessing, and prison as well as nursing home visiting, on an on-going basis. You see, thus "MAKING DISCIPLES", is rooted in my spirit. |
